- The number of broadband connections in Greece breaks the limit of 1,000,000

- Robbie Williams and EMI present the first “360 deal”

- The computer game Guitar Hero is released, whose 3rd edition Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock became in 2007 the first single game surpassing sales of $1 bil.

- Launch of Youtube, a video-sharing service that presents mainly user-generated content

2003

- The digital store iTunes (announced in 2001 by Steve Jobs) is launched in October and changes forever the way people interact with music

- The social networking service MySpace, that was widely used by new artists, is launched

- For the first time, RIAA presents in the annual results an online music sales share

- Apple presents in the market the first generation iPod

- Napster, the first file-sharing service, after several legal problems shuts down its service
